Aviva Plc is a global UK based insurer that engages in general, life (traditional and unit-linked) and health insurance along with savings and investment products. The company is the sixth largest insurer in the world and the leading general insurer in the UK. The company holds 11% of the market for life business in the UK. Aviva is well diversified with respect to its product mix, geography and distribution channels. The company is currently actively trying to penetrate the Chinese and Indian insurance markets since these countries are considered to have huge potential for new business. Expansion in Europe is also planned since calculations show that there exists an additional need for annual pension savings of €2.4tr.
