Weir Group (‘WG’) provides engineering and technical services to the Minerals, Oil & Gas and Power & Industrial sectors. The Minerals division’s products include pumps, dewatering equipment, etc. servicing companies like Alcoa, BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto. The Oil & Gas division designs and manufactures pumps and equipment for the global oil and gas industry with customers including Baker Hughes, Schlumberger and Weatherford. Power and Industrial provides designs and manufactures generation equipment and provides aftermarket support for customers like EADS, Hyundai Heavy Industries and Toshiba. Strong nuclear power demand from Asia (especially China) should benefit the Power & Industrial division. The strategy to focus on emerging markets bodes well given increasing industrial activity in these regions.
